Frequent Asked Questions:

How do I know if this is for me?

If you’re ready for something different—ready to ask for help and put in the work—you’re not alone. Our program is here for people who are serious about recovery from substance use, open to living in community, and willing to commit to the process. If that’s you, we’d love to connect.

Where are you located?

We have men’s homes in Richmond, Cypress, Spring Branch, Baytown, Denver Harbor, Conroe, Galveston, Sugar Land, Braeswood, and South Houston. Our women’s homes are in Spring Branch and Innwood (near Jersey Village).

How much does it cost and do you accept insurance?

Program fees range from $595—$695 depending on the location. We do not accept insurance.

Do you provide transportation?

Transportation will largely be your responsibility, though we can assist with a bus pass at the beginning. We also provide Ubers to church on Sundays and to our Wednesday Night Sharpen events.

Do you provide meals?

While we don’t provide meals, we’ll make sure you’re taken care of in the beginning and have food until you’re on your feet.

Are you a treatment center?

We’re not a treatment center. We’re a non-medical, non-clinical recovery housing organization. We provide a safe, supportive next step for individuals building a life in recovery. Our homes are regular single-family houses located in neighborhoods across Greater Houston, offering structure, accountability, and community.

What is the leadership structure in the homes?

Each home is led by a Peer Coordinator and an Assistant Peer Coordinator, both of whom have lived experience in recovery, and they work closely with a Program Manager who oversees multiple homes.

Do I have to be a Christian to join?

We talk about Jesus a lot because our hope is in Him, and many of us have experienced real change through Him. One of our core values is “Consider Christ,” which simply means we hope you’ll stay open to who He is and what He has to offer. You’ll never be forced to believe anything, and no matter what your beliefs are, we want you to feel safe, respected, and supported here.

Can I have my own room?

We have shared rooms of two, three or four beds.

What can I bring with me?

Hygiene supplies, food, clothes, and non-narcotic medicine if you’re prescribed any. No more than two large suitcases/garbage bags of belongings. You’ll have designated areas for your things.

Sharpen Recovery homes are TROHN Level II certified.
